When started with the parameter /slave, VSTHost goes into Slave Mode and waits for a Master to control it. The first (and currently only) master is a VST(i) plugin that can be embedded into any VST Host program (even another instance of VSTHost), called Legree. It comes as an effect and as a VSTi, since there are hosts that accept only effects.

INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR NEW CUSTOMERS

1: Create a Native Instruments account using Native Access
2: Your KOMPLETE START products might take a moment to appear – press the refresh button if necessary. Install all included products by clicking ‘Install All’ in the ‘Not Installed’ tab in Native Access.
3: Launch KOMPLETE KONTROL. Important: Run it in standalone mode before using it in your DAW. This allows it to scan and organize all your sounds.

VST.NET allows VST Plugin developers to write Plugins in any .NET language. It makes the transition between the C++ and .NET world smooth and easy.The Framework built on top of the interop layer provides a clear and structured architecture accelerating development considerably.

VST.NET has been extended to also provide support for writing a managed VST Host. The VstPluginContext class (Interop.Host) allows you to load and communicate with unmanaged (and managed) VST Plugins. For managed VST plugins there is no (double) marshalling overhead and calls are made directly between managed host and managed plugins.

VST.NET targets the 4.0 framework (runtime). The code was written with VS2012.
